4TH WALL ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR “THE FOURTH WALL” AND “THE REAL INSPECTOR HOUND”
Bloomfield, NJ (June 28, 2010) 4th Wall Theatre will hold open auditions for all roles in two one-act plays, The Fourth Wall by A.R. Gurney, to be directed by Gwen Ricks-Spencer and The Real Inspector Hound by Tom Stoppard, to be directed by Cat Parker.
The plays will be staged at The Westminster Arts Center, corner of Franklin and Freemont Streets in Bloomfield, NJ, where the company is in residence. Auditions will be held on Monday, July 12 and Thursday, July 15 at 7:00 pm at the Westminster Arts Center, corner of Franklin & Fremont, Bloomfield NJ. Sign up starts at 6:30 pm. Those auditioning must sign-in by 8:00 pm. Callbacks will be held on Sunday, July 18 beginning at 2:00 pm. The directors may choose to double cast between the two plays.
These two comedies tinker with the theatrical idea of the fourth wall. The Gurney play tells the story of the husband and friends of a woman who has rearranged her living room furniture to face a blank fourth wall because she feels that if she can just break through it, she can make big things happen. In the classic Stoppard play, the theatre critics attending a murder mystery end up crossing the fourth wall and becoming characters in the play.
Auditioning actors should prepare sides from the play (available on the 4th Wall Theatre website listed below – memorization not necessary). Sides will also be provided at the audition. Auditioners are encouraged to read the plays in advance. All roles are open.
The production opens September 24 and runs 2 weekends. Non-union/small stipend paid. Seeking actors of all types (ages 18-50”s) with the ability to create vivid characters. British accents will be required for HOUND. Please bring a headshot and resume stapled together. A complete breakdown of cast and downloadable sides at: www.4thwalltheatre.org/auditions.
